Founder of Akhuwat Organization receives Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award
Dr. Muhammad Amjad Saqib who is Founder of Akhuwat received Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the World Economic Forum. He dedicated this award to the poor but dignified and enterprising people of Pakistan.
Dr. Amjad Saqib is a philanthropist, development practitioner, writer and also worked as a civil servant. He has been a consultant for international agencies, the list includes Asian Development Bank, International Labour Organization, UNICEF, and World Bank. His ares of expertise includes poverty alleviation, microfinance, social mobilization, and education management.
Dr Amjad Saqib was honored by Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan. He also received the 31st Commonwealth Points of Light Award in 2017, the Life Time Achievement Award in 2015 from Thomson Reuters, the Best Human Rights Society of Pakistan, and Global Forum for Islamic Finance.
Dr Amjad Saqib is the author of 7 books, including the story of Akhuwat, with a focus on development. He is a medical graduate from the King Edward Medical College (Pakistan) and awardee of Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship for Master’s degree in Public Administration from the American University, Washington-USA.
